Conductor Edward Gardner and the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra make a highly anticipated return to the Usher Hall, following their hugely acclaimed Peter Grimes at the 2017 International Festival.
Salome is one of the most thrilling, chilling works in the operatic repertoire. It paints a darkly fascinating picture of King Herod’s court, where his stepdaughter Salome demands a prophet’s death in return for satisfying his lascivious desires.
Malin Byström has enjoyed sensational reviews in the title role in Amsterdam and at Covent Garden, and she’s joined by celebrated baritone Johan Reuter as the doomed John the Baptist in Strauss’s gripping masterpiece.
